BH Angel Fund strikes sweet deal

The Black Hills Regional Angel Fund has invested in Rapid City-based Oat Tech, the company behind OatSweet, a new food sweetener made from oats.

The sweetener won an award for "Best of Show" food ingredient at the 2012 Natural Products Expo West in Anaheim, Calif., the the largest food industry show in the country, according to a recent story in the Rapid City Journal.

OatSweet has a clean taste with a light caramel flavor and hint of honey to make flavor beverages, cereals, confections and candies, snack bars and many other products. OatSweet contains protein, fiber, vitamins and antioxidants, but no fructose and no toxins such as arsenic or lead, according to the Oat Tech website.
