A team from the Rushmore Region Economic Development Alliance traveled to Chicago in November for the 2015 FabTech Expo, the largest fabrication and metal works technology show in the United States.
More than 40,000 people, representing nearly every aspect of the metal manufacturing industry, attended the four-day FabTech Expo. More than 1,500 exhibitors were there to display the latest tools and technologies in metal fabricating.
Mutch Usera of Black Hills Corp., Ben Snow of the Rapid City Economic Development Partnership and Hollie Stalder of Belle Fourche Economic Development were there to promote the Rushmore Region as a great place to do business.
Usera, who is Senior Manager of Community Affairs and Economic Development at Black Hills Corp./Black Hills Power, said this was the third FabTech Expo that Black Hills Corp. has participated in with economic development officials in the regions served by its utilities.
“It’s a great opportunity, and Black Hills Corp. is happy to share the opportunity with our economic development partners,” he said.
Among the commercial exhibitors at the show is Rapid City-based Accurpress, maker of press brakes, shears and other heavy-duty sheet metal fabrication equipment.
Ben Snow said he and Hollie Stalder had a chance to meet with site selectors and others in manufacturing. “This event is a good way to let manufacturers know what this part of the country has to offer them,” he said.
