Runnings, the general merchandize retailer with stores throughout the Upper Midwest, recently opened a newly built store in Belle Fourche. The 60,000 square-foot store, more than four times the size of Runnings' previous Belle Fourche location, will employ about 40 people.
Runnings offers more than 100,000 items, including sporting goods, clothing, footwear, pet supplies, housewares, tools, farm supplies, lawn & garden supplies, toys and outdoor equipment. Runnings also offers a large inventory of hunting, fishing and archery equipment and firearms.
In January of last year, Runnings purchased 10.56 acres of land and announced plans to build the new store.
“We outgrew our existing building and needed additional space to give customers more of what they want from Runnings,” said Brandon Freed, Runnings Store Manager. “Our employees and customers are extremely excited about the larger store, and we can’t wait to show it off to not only Belle Fourche, but the entire region.”
Founded in 1947, Runnings is a privately held general merchandise retailer owned by the Dennis and Adele Reed Family. The company currently has 39 stores and employs more than 2,000 workers across Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota and Montana, with new locations now open in the Northeast.
