The Black Hills National Forest will host a FREE seminar for area small businesses interested in providing equipment, supplies and services to support wildland firefighting efforts. The event will be held Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2016, from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Great Plains Interagency Dispatch Center, 8123 S. Hwy 16 in Rapid City.
Small businesses currently doing business or wanting to do business with the Forest Service and the State of South Dakota, in support of wildland fires, are encouraged to attend. Topics covered will include contracts and agreements, the ordering and payment process, types of services needed to support incidents and the System for Award Management (SAM).
Services and equipment needed to support firefighting include meals, office equipment, heavy equipment, refrigerated trailers, ice, showers, portable toilets, waste disposal services and hand-washing stations.
The seminar is presented by the Forest Service, South Dakota Department of Agriculture Wildland Fire Division, a SBA Business Development Specialist and a Certified Procurement Assistance Counselor.
