Small businesses honored

RAPID CITY -- Two Rushmore Region small businesses and a local lender were honored recently at Black Hills Community Economic Development’s annual Small Business Roundup.

Black Hills Community Economic Development’s Small Business of the Year is Iron Outfitter in Piedmont. Chad Gollnick started the company in 2011. Today the company employs 20 people. In 2016, Chad used an SBA 504 loan to buy a bigger building.

Black Hills Community Economic Development's Startup of the Year is Philip Hardware. Colton & Erin Fitzgerald, lifelong Philip area residents, bought the store in 2015 with an SBA 504 loan. They’ve refurbished the historic building and given new life to a long-standing community business.

The Black Hills Community Economic Development Lending Partner of the Year is Tom Lessin of First National Bank. He submitted the highest volume of SBA loans that were approved over the past 12 months.
