Sturgis development gains ground

A number of new housing and commercial development projects have emerged in Sturgis as the area accommodates new growth.

Construction of the first phase of Dolan Creek Estates began in June. Plans call for 106 residential lots on 34 acres. The first phase of development began in June. The new subdivision is just west of Interstate 90 in Sturgis. Meanwhile, Sierra Vista Apartment Homes, the first 16-unit phase of a 48-unit multifamily residential project, opened this fall on Ball Park Road.

Black Hills Federal Credit Union broke ground on a new building in September. It’s the 13th branch for the Rapid City-based credit union. And Maverik, the 270-store, convenience store chain, plans to build a new 5,000-square-foot Adventure’s First Stop Maverik store on Junction Avenue.
