RAPID CITY, S.D. -- Mutch Usera of Black Hills Energy has been named the first ever winner of the annual Rushmore Region Economic Development Partner of the Year award.
Usera, whose career with Black Hills Corp. spans 44 years, currently directs and implements economic development and external affairs strategies for the company. Beyond that, however, he is deeply involved in each community’s economic development at every level, and he’s always willing to help out.
Usera is also willing to tap Black Hills Energy’s resources to help communities promote and expand their businesses, which is especially important for small communities in the Rushmore Region.
“Mutch has been a consistent champion of economic development for the Rushmore Region for many years. He works closely with each of us to make sure we have the resources we need,” said Pat Kurtenbach, chair of the Rushmore Region Alliance and president of the Sturgis Economic Development Corp. “Because Mutch truly understands the workings of successful development, he is able to provide us with support specific to each project. We are fortunate to have Mutch at the table as our economic development partner.”
“I was very humbled to receive this recognition as this award should also be shared with Black Hills Energy who supports me in my role in economic development,” Usera said. “Thanks again to the economic development professionals who support the growth in the Rushmore region.”
Usera was presented the award during Black Hills Community Economic Development’s recent Small Business Roundup, the group’s annual meeting. The Rushmore Region Economic Development Alliance is a partnership of Economic Development organizations throughout the Black Hills of South Dakota which work together to foster and promote a stronger and more diverse economy.
